The effect of chemotherapeutic drugs on human B lymphocytes

چکیده
Introduction Cancer is currently treated by a combination of therapies, including chemotherapy. As a side effect, chemotherapy is believed to suppress the host immune system. Combination of immunotherapy and chemotherapy has been reported to be correlated with improvement of survival. However this combination needs careful planning in order to achieve a synergistic effect. In this study we have performed a flow cytometry analysis of lymphoblast transformation to investigate the effects of three conventional chemotherapeutic drugs, cisplatin, doxorubicin and irinotecan on human B cells and their role as APC.

Therapeutic use of biological response modulators in combination with chemotherapeutic drugs may propose a more efficient way for cancer therapy with fewer side effects. However, the related mechanism has not been well understood. Γ-interferon is a modulator of biological responses that inhibits the growth of malignant cells and mediates their differentiation. In this investigation, T cell lymp...

The application of chemotherapy in cancer treatment has been limited due to cause side effects such as toxicity against normal cells and drug resistance. In recent years, numerous studies have been focused on using natural products with chemotherapeutic drugs to enhance therapeutic efficiency and reduce cytotoxicity. On the other hand, encapsulation of drugs into nanoparticles (NPs) can improve...
